INSPIRE MASTER CLASSES PROVIDE GUIDANCE ON THE WHAT, WHEN AND HOW OF THE DIRECTIVE

Following two recent INSPIRE Master Classes we are now taking reservations for upcoming classes in September & October - with classes in August by request.

The EU INSPIRE Directive places obligations on all public bodies creating spatial data.  Our Master Classes deal with the questions - What is required of me?  When ?  And how do I do it?  These are practical workshops allowing discussion of the particular concerns of those attending.

Upcoming scheduled classes include 25th September (Limerick) and 8-9th October (Dublin).  The October class will include the standard one day class with another day providing details of aspects of data transformations, latest data specifications, and technical aspects of web services development.  Days can be attended separately or together.  Classes are also being scheduled for Belgium and the UK.

AERIAL AND VEHICLE SURVEY SOLUTIONS EXTENDED VIA COMPASS-INFOTERRA PARTNERSHIP

Compass have been designing and undertaking field and aerial surveys since 1997 and have been working with the National Centre for Geocomputation, Ireland, to continually expand our available survey technologies.  With the active partnership between Compass and Infoterra this capability is further expanded at an operational level - and includes full service aerial LIDAR, aerial photography, and ground and vehicle based LIDAR/photography.  We now have an excellent combination - NCG as a research partner, with an expanded operational capacity via our association with Infoterra.

Selected recent survey work includes a street furniture inventory for the Railway Procurement Agency, Ireland, and support to a range of land management companies in field survey design.

BIOENERGY GIS TO BE DEVELOPED BY COMPASS
Sustainable Energy Ireland have recently appointed Compass Informatics to design and deliver a GIS based system for mapping and modelling bioenergy actiities and potential.  The system will deal with agriculture, forestry, and industrial waste streams as sources of biomass suited to energy generation, and will also assess demand for bioenergy material.  The system will seek to utilise many of the core spatial datasets for Ireland in an innovative manner, integrating them with project designed models, and models already being designed in a range of organisations.  The overall system will seek to support the country's efforts to expand bioenergy use in a sustainable and appropriate manner.
